Agora will not answer the question of who the other ancient astronomer engraved on a cup in
Eclogue 3 might be, but it does illustrate beautifully how astronomers (and geographers and mathematicians) used rods to work out complex problems.
Agora features Rachel Weisz as the late antique philosopher Hypatia, who was stoned to death by a mob of angry Christians during a riot in Alexandria.
